Basilica of Our Lady of Consolation - Home of Conventual Franciscan Friars Assumption Day of every year, pilgrims mostly from the Middle East go to the Basilica |
Our Lady of Consolation is one of her earliest titles of honor for the Virgin Mary, Consoler of the Afflicted, as early as 2nd century. In the 17th century, in plague-ravaged Luxembourg, the faithful prayed to her for help and reported miraculous cures and healings. In 1652, Pope Innocent X encouraged devotion to Our Lady of Consolation by establishing a confraternity. Cures and healings reportedly continue to take place at the shrine to the present day.
A replica of the statue of Our Lady of Consolation from Luxembourg was received by the Basilica in Ohio. On May 24, 1875, Our Lady was carried on a procession. As the procession marched, a severe thunderstorm raged in the entire area. Throughout the walk, not a drop of rain touched the statue nor anyone in the procession. A miracle! It's true only Catholics believe in miracle. No other religion.
OUR LADY OF CONSOLATION PRAYER FOR THE SICK AND AFFLICTED
Dearest Mary, Mother of Consolation, please join your prayers to my own. Look upon my difficulties with love and help me to understand and accept them.
You accepted and lived the will of Our Father in your life. Help me to accept the Father's will for me, for I know that in His will is love.
Dear Mother of Consolation, help me by your prayers to be freed from this affliction if it be God's will. Above all else, teach me to accept my difficulty and to see in this a deepening union with your Son, through His cross, that blessed sign of His special love for me. Amen.
Pray: 3 Our Father, 3 Hail Mary, 3 Glory Be and 3 O My Jesus (Fatima Prayer).
Jesus will answer your prayers, not Mother Mary. TRUST IN JESUS.

AUGUST 15: HOLY DAY OF OBLIGATION
Mary, the mother of Jesus, died and was buried in 54 AD. While dying on the cross, Jesus asked John who was present at the crucifixtion to take care of Mary which he duly fulfilled. Catholics believe that she rose from the death and into heaven with both body and soul intact.
12 Revelation: And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of 12 stars.
What a joy to remember that she is our Mother! Since she loves us and knows our weakness, what have we to fear? - Saint Therese of Lisieux
