WHO MAY BE ANOINTED?
Individuals who seek God's grace and comfort while they endure suffering including those with...
...physical health problems such as impairments or disabilities, diseases, breathing problems, arthritis, cancer, heart conditions, impending surgery, fatigue, conditions associated with advanced age or serious conditions;
...emotional or mental pain due to conditions such as stress, grief, job insecurity, turbulent change, fear, depression, anxiety, interpersonal conflict, addiction, abuse, isolation or loneliness;
...spiritual needs, weakness, despair, difficulty praying or those struggling with questions of faith;
...children with serious illnesses who are able to appreciate the strength and comfort bestowed by this Sacrament.
Who among us does not have physical, mental and spiritual problems? I do because I'm not a superman. So yesterday I attended the Anointing of the Sick. It took more than hour since everyone had to be anointed with oil in the forehead and in both hands. What kind of oil? Probably olive oil - the Garden of Gethsemane was where the olives were pressed. Indeed, I have a very good healer in Jesus.
