Hi, Friends!
I have been invited by the St. Joan of Arc Filipino Community of Evanston-Skokie this past Sunday, September 26th, to attend the Filipino Mass. We have a younger breed of immigrant Filipinos (not like us OT's) who came in the 80s and somehow established themselves in my neighborhood. They are active in the SJA Roman Catholic Church and the Filipino choir under the direction of Music Maestro Ned Barin have given the faithful so much joy with their singing in Tagalog. I think there are 2 Filipino Mass within a year. I'm pretty sure there are very few Filipino choirs in the Archdiocese of Chicago and the rest of 49 States. I must confess I did not hear these songs before because when I was in the Philippines the Mass was in Latin then and here in the States in English only. I don't even know how to say Our Father in Tagalog until they came. When you attended the SJA Simbang Gabi three years ago you asked me who was singing at maganda siyang kumanta. I said, "Bernadette". Well, here she is again.
