Sunday Spiritual - Fifth Sunday of Lent

MARCH 25, 2012

IN THESE DAYS OF LENTEN JOURNEY

In these days of Lenten journey we have seen and we have heard

The call to sow justice in the lives of those we serve.

We reach out to those who are homeless

To those who live without warmth.

In the coldness of evening we'll shelter their dreams;

We will clothe them in mercy and peace.

We open our eyes to the hungry

And see the faces of Christ.

As we nourish all people who hunger for food,

May their faith in our God be renewed.

We open our ears to the weary

And hear the cry of the poor.

To the voices that echo the song of despair,

We will show our compassion and care.

We call on the Spirit of Justice

And pray for righteousness' sake.

We will sing for the freedom of the oppressed;

We will loosen the bonds of distress.

I e-mailed Venus Veronica Bacatan Leighton, Editor & Publisher of ViaTimes, to publish our Iowa reunion group photo.  I was way too late for the June issue and beside, most of the month issue was patriotically dedicated to the Philippine Independence Day ( June 12th) activities in Chicago.  I was told to look for it in the July issue of Elsie Sy-Niebar's NOTEBOOK.  I find her very informative in all kind of issues and an excellent journalist.

HOW GREAT THOU ART

O Lord my God!

When I in awesome wonder

Consider all the worlds thy hands have made,

I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder,

Thy pow'r throughout the universe displayed;

Then sings my soul,

My savior God to thee;

How great thou art,

How great thou art!

When through the woods and forest glades I wander,

And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees;

When I look down from lofty mountain grandeur

And hear the brook,

And feel the gentle breeze;

And when I think that God, his Son not sparing,

Sent him to die, I scarce can't take it in,

That on the cross, my burden gladly bearing,

He bled and died to take away my sin;

When Christ shall come with shout of acclamation

And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart!

Then I shall bow in humble adoration,
